Securus Technologies, a leader in correctional facility management has been in business for well over 30 years and is based in Texas. It’s recently acquired GovPayNet, a company specializing in payment processing for governmental entities. Among the transactions they process are bail, restitution, home monitoring fees, citations and court fees. The company is just over 20 years old and is based in Indiana.
There have not been any official plans announced yet, however, GovPayNet declared it’s happy to be joining Securus Technologies, who’s also recently acquired JPay. Since JPay is also a financial services company, it’s suspected they have technology that could assist one another. JPay has been working on a couple larger projects in recent years. The leading project is installing and testing wireless containment systems in correctional facilities. These systems work to block cell signals from phones that are being used as contraband. As several violent crimes have been used with these devices, this is in the best interest of everyone. Although this is a newer technology, it’s been noted that the testing phases have yielded very promising results.
Securus Technologies is most known for connecting inmates with their loved ones. In recent years, they’ve reduced the financial burden by increasing alternative communication services and reducing telephone calling costs. Moving forward, Securus Technologies continues to innovate at a pace much faster than the average company. It’s recently earned accreditation from the Better Business Bureau and earned a score of “A+.” With high customer satisfaction ratings and an incredibly high one-call resolution rate, the company is keeping everyone happy. Services such as voicemail, email, and video visitation have been gaining popularity as people are looking to save money. With the company moving at such a quick pace and staying ahead in technology, Securus is most likely a company to continue making big news in the future.
