This product designed by NexLoop has received the Ray C. Anderson Foundation Ray of Hope Prize. They were awarded $100,000 for winning the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge. The product called AquaWeb helps urban growers store, collect,and distribute water. It is a modular water sourcing system.
It uses rain and fog instead of groundwater to collect water. It can be used by urban farms, greenhouses, container farms, and indoor vertical farms. The company studied drought tolerant plants like the crystalline ice plant that stores water and the Jersey cow mushroom that distributes water. Their product can help with growing more food locally in many communities.
Josh Smith CEO of Modular Greenhouses in Reno, NV, developed an interest in health, food, nutrition and gardening when his grandfather died of cancer when he was a child. He studied the history and science of botany for years. Josh graduated from the University of Nevada and began to look for a greenhouse that was cost effective and easy to build.
